NAU-T-CAT RC BOATS

SAFETY & PRODUCT USE POLICY

Last updated: 15 September 2026

Nau-t-Cat RC boats are performance-oriented radio-controlled watercraft.

They are NOT TOYS and can cause injury, property damage or damage to the boat itself if operated incorrectly.

The operator is responsible for safe operation.

1. Safe Operation

Never operate an RC boat:

  • near swimmers;
  • near people in the water;
  • near children without appropriate supervision;
  • near wildlife;
  • near other vessels without maintaining a safe distance;
  • in prohibited areas; or
  • in conditions beyond the capability of the boat or operator.

Always comply with applicable laws and regulations.

2. High-Speed Operation

High-performance RC boats can travel at significant speeds.

A collision can cause serious injury or property damage.

Maintain a safe distance from people, vessels, structures and the shoreline.

3. Water Conditions

The operator must assess conditions before use.

Consider:

  • wind;
  • waves;
  • current;
  • water depth;
  • obstacles;
  • other vessels;
  • swimmers;
  • weather; and
  • visibility.

Do not operate a boat in conditions that exceed its capabilities.

4. Recovery

Boats may capsize, become disabled or become stranded.

Always have a suitable recovery method available.

Never enter dangerous water or place yourself at risk attempting to recover an RC boat.

5. Battery Safety

Many Nau-t-Cat boats use lithium batteries.

Lithium batteries must be:

  • charged with a suitable charger;
  • charged using the correct settings;
  • monitored during charging;
  • stored correctly;
  • inspected regularly; and
  • handled according to the battery manufacturer’s instructions.

Never use a visibly damaged battery.

Never leave a lithium battery charging unattended.

Never use an incompatible battery voltage or configuration.

6. Electrical Safety

Before each use, inspect:

  • wiring;
  • connectors;
  • batteries;
  • ESC;
  • motor;
  • cooling system;
  • steering;
  • radio system;
  • hatch;
  • seals; and
  • other relevant components.

If water enters the hull, stop operation and disconnect the battery when safe to do so.

7. Maintenance

After operation, inspect the boat for:

  • water ingress;
  • corrosion;
  • propeller damage;
  • loose fasteners;
  • damaged wiring;
  • damaged connectors;
  • motor temperature;
  • ESC temperature;
  • cooling-system problems; and
  • other signs of damage.

Saltwater operation requires additional cleaning and corrosion prevention.

8. Modifications

Changing motors, ESCs, batteries, propellers or other components can significantly alter boat performance.

The customer assumes responsibility for ensuring that modified equipment is suitable and correctly installed.

9. Operator Responsibility

The operator is responsible for:

  • choosing a suitable operating location;
  • assessing weather and water conditions;
  • maintaining a safe operating distance;
  • using suitable batteries and equipment;
  • maintaining the boat; and
  • operating the boat responsibly.

Nau-t-Cat cannot guarantee that a boat will remain upright, dry, controllable or recoverable in every operating condition.

10. Contact

If you are unsure whether a particular setup, battery, propeller, motor or ESC is suitable for your boat, contact Nau-t-Cat before operating it.
